Talk:Timeline of fundamental physics discoveries

Scientist Names

[edit]

I suggest we add the first names along with the last names. I know a few people who have gotten confused because they were looking for this timeline but didn't know exactly who the people were that discovered them. They weren't familiar with the last names. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Rogron Wolfe (talkcontribs) 18:42, 30 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Tagging

[edit]

This article, much like Timeline of theoretical physics was tagged to be in synch with the tagging on that page. I've made some changes in layout and have some thoughts on the talk page that may be helpful.--CaroleHenson (talk) 05:49, 10 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"1983 – Simulated annealing"?

[edit]

Simulated annealing is just a method of helping optimize, but hasn't such techniques been used before 1983 (without that name)? Is the relevant milestone for 1983 that it was used as a solution of the traveling salesman problem? If so, then maybe should add "... to solve traveling salesman problem" to its bullet in this article. Em3rgent0rdr (talk) 08:31, 17 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Looking again at simulated annelaing, but I questioned how relevant it is to "Timeline of fundamental physics discoveries" and so deleted it. But feel free to re-add it if someone can tie the bullet into fundamental physics. Em3rgent0rdr (talk) 19:47, 17 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
