I have seen on the ...tube that Colbert threw out Megan Markle from his show. To me this looked faked with the help of AI. Maybe this should be mentioned? As AI draws in material from other sites without checking if it's genuine, we need to be more aware of this. 2001:8003:A070:7F00:D1BF:F9CF:9FF3:299C (talk) 03:43, 9 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

change "He is also in favor of abolishing the U.S. Senate." to "He has made a humorous quip in favor of abolishing the U.S. Senate.".
If you follow the existing citation and read the text therein (not just the title) you will see that the original quote was from an interview with Elizabeth Warren regarding doing away with senate filibuster rules. In response Colbert quipped that we should abolish the senate. I think the error originated because the click bait headline was used in favor of the article text likely due to the article being pay walled. SettledTime (talk) 17:05, 18 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for pointing this out. Since a joke he once made doesn't belong there at all, I removed the reference entirely rather than change it. UrielAcosta (talk) 17:24, 18 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Currently reads: On July 17, 2025, only a few days after CBS "bowed to" Trump in a $16 million settlement, CBS also announced that it would be ending The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and would be retiring The Late Show franchise altogether in May 2026 after 33 years (with the first 22 seasons under David Letterman and the following 11 seasons under outspoken Trump critic Colbert). "Our admiration, affection, and respect for the talents of Stephen Colbert and his incredible team made this agonizing decision even more difficult," CBS' statement read, noting that the show has been No. 1 in late night for nine straight seasons. "With much gratitude, we look forward to honoring Stephen and celebrating the show over the next 10 months alongside its millions of fans and viewers," the network said.
"bowed to" in scare quotes indicate the non-NPOV of this statement. Quoting NYT on the matter is probably problematic
The "No.1" reference is laughable and applies only to network television. They ignore Gutfeld's viewership because he is on cable, but he consistently outperformed Colbert's Late Show.
Colbert's viewership had an average age of 68. This is significant, particularly as it relates to the ability of advertisers to make money support the show.
