Talk:Pusher configuration

Driveshaft Stress

[edit]

The current statement is: "The drive shaft of a pusher engine is in compression in normal operation, which places less stress on it than being in tension in a tractor configuration."

This is not correct. The stress from a pusher is compression, and the stress from a tractor would the same magnitude, but in tension. There might be a fatigue advantage, but that would need to be cited, and should be further explained.

Can anyone fix or add to the statement above? Gfox88 (talk) 12:14, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
