Talk:Paper Clips Project

Untitled

[edit]

"The city of Whitwell is located in an area where people are historically nicknamed "rednecks."" - is it just me, or is this statement a tad biased? I suggest it be removed --Broux 12:41, 16 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The source of that comment was local. The whole story is about teaching tolerance. In that context, perhaps the statement is appropriate. Vaoverland 12:46, 16 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I tried to make as NPOV as possible. But if you watch the movie they openly state that and discuss that prejudice and the project is there to teach it's all wrong. Renata3 13:50, 16 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I think if the redneck sentence was rewritten to imply it's directly from the film or a published source, it would work better.

Anyone going to be there with a camera?

Fascinating article — well done the authors! But a picture of the monument would be so good... — Johantheghost 15:05, 16 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

totally agree with you, Johantheghost. Very interesting new article, so congratulations to the contributors. But it really is crying out for a photo! UkPaolo 17:20, 16 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I know. The strangest thing - even in the movie they don't show the monument completely. They show a lot of paperclips, the railcar, but never what is inside... And I could not find any pic on the net too. Renata3 15:44, 16 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, these are the only ones I could find:

Newbie here: It's my home town. Next time I'm up to visit (about 100 miles), I'll get a picture to post. Thanks for the wonderful artice! It makes my town look good.

* Well, I was watching the movie, but the DVD messed up, so I didn't see the monument. I always assumed it was just because the tape was demented.
[edit]

I just added a link to a page on Flickr with some photos of the memorial. Elsquared (talk) 08:19, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Elsquared. childrens in the school after morning prayer, one animated clip of 10 min. should be shown.in that clip main moral story is to maintain peace for whole life.[reply]

Should an update be made to reflect the middle school moving?

[edit]

A new middle school was built near the elementary and high schools a while back and the monument was moved with it. Should there be a reference to that in this article? FWIW: I grew up in Whitwell and go there often. I have some pictures of the monument if they are needed. We plan on going to the new location soon to see monument again.
