@3602kiva, your copyedits to the lead are superfluous non-improvements to my eyes, please self-revert them. Given you seem to have just crossed the 500 edit threshold required to edit I–P articles, please understand that these sections of these articles are often written the way they are for good reason, and you haven't explained any specific explanation for your changes. Hi @Remsense, thanks for your message requesting that I self-revert.
I made an edit to clarify the borders for better reader understanding. I also added the term 'de facto' to describe Ramallah's status, as this is a fact used consistently on other Wikipedia pages. I did not feel like it was a superfluous edit...perhaps a inconsequential, noncontroversial edit at most.
To respect the 1RR process, I will leave the edit as is. If a different editor, acting independently, believes it should be reverted, or if you find this edit so egregious you wish to revert it in 24 hours, feel free to do so.
In retrospect, @Remsense, I realize that I could have worded this a bit more respectfully, especially as a novice editor. I have the utmost respect for all the work you do on Wikipedia, and by no means did I intend to disrespect you or your opinion.
The current lead paragraph for this article is highly tendentious. A neutral and accurate first para would say something like the following (setting the tone for the rest of the article).
Palestine is a territory in the Middle East, encompassing the West Bank and Gaza Strip, recognized as a state entity by approximately 140 UN member states and granted non-member observer state status by the United Nations in 2012 (Resolution 67/19). The Palestinian Authority (PA) serves as its nominal government, but its control is limited, with the PA administering parts of the West Bank under the Oslo Accords and Hamas governing Gaza since 2007. Israel, which occupies much of the West Bank and controls Gaza’s borders, disputes Palestine’s statehood, viewing the territories as contested. While Palestine's legal statehood is recognized internationally, its functional statehood is limited by internal divisions and external restrictions, leading to debate over its status. Metamagician3000 (talk)
Not according to many it would not be. In fact there are many things wrong with this, for one, Palestine (according to many) encompasses Israel as well, so should we not also say "some of its territory makes up the state of Israel"? Slatersteven (talk) 12:17, 6 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
“ The PNA gained full control of the Gaza Strip with the exception of its borders, airspace, and territorial waters” This literally never happened and the entire Gaza Strip has been under full Hamas control until the current war of course. Also it makes no sense to say “gained full control” then say “with the exception” lol. Salvation Front (talk) 01:48, 7 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Dear editors, apparently I do not have editing rights yet. I think the following sentence is missing a few words regrding natual gas (OF RECOVERABLE NATURAL GAS), if you follow the source this is confirmed. I added it in capitals below:
"It is estimated to have a P90 (a level of certainty) of 0.03 billion barrels (4,800,000 m3) of recoverable oil and 6,000,000,000 cubic feet (170,000,000 m3) OF RECOVERABLE NATURAL GAS.[243]" Thio59 (talk) 08:47, 11 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Thio59, thank you for being so observant! Source says: Recoverable Gas, not Recoverable Natural Gas, so that is what I'll add.
