Merge proposal
[edit]Merge Maring people (India) and Maring language (India) into Maring people (India). The Maring people speak the Maring language. Hence, the two articles should be merged. The new title of the article should be "Maring people (India)" to prevent confusion with the similar name of a tribe in Papua New Guinea. . -- Rohini (talk) 17:51, 1 June 2025 (UTC)

- Strong oppose. Wikipedia maintains separate articles for languages and peoples because they are separately notable. I read somewhere in a discussion that languages have inherent notability, but I cannot find it anywhere. 🪐Kepler-1229b | talk | contribs🪐 12:40, 22 August 2025 (UTC)
- In addition, the proposal does not include any valid rationale to merge two separately notable articles into one.
