The result of the move request was: not moved. The discussion showed convincingly that "Korv stroganoff" is used in English-language sources, and no attempt was made to show that "sausage stroganoff" is the WP:COMMONNAME (instead, it was simply argued that the term is in use). Accordingly, WP:UE does not preclude "Korv stroganoff" from being the title. It was further argued that "Korv stroganoff" is more WP:PRECISE about the dish described. Accordingly, on review of the strength of the arguments under discussion, I see a consensus to retain the current title. Oppose – There is precedent on English Wikipedia for keeping culturally-specific dish names in their original language, especially when the dish is distinct and widely recognised in its home country (e.g. smørrebrød not "butter bread", gravlax not "graved salmon", sauerbraten not "sour roast", khachapuri not "curd bread", pad thai not "thai stir fry", coq au vin not "rooster with wine", stegt flæsk not "fried pork".)
"Korv Stroganoff" refers specifically to the Swedish dish traditionally made with falukorv. Renaming to "Sausage stroganoff" would obscure this specificity and conflate it with unrelated sausage-based stroganoff dishes (such as the two examples given above which are unrelated to the Swedish dish).
The recent deletion discussion (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Korv Stroganoff) resulted in consensus to keep Korv Stroganoff as a standalone entry on the basis of its distinctiveness and cultural significance in Sweden, not on the basis that it was a sausage variant of Beef Stroganoff.

Various English-language sources use the untranslated name Korv Stroganoff, showing it has established English usage (WP:UE):
When a translation of the name is used, the dish typically has to be described as "Swedish Sausage Stroganoff" to preserve clarity.

  • Oppose per COMMONNAME and PRECISE as shown by Lea 4545 in RM that was closed just three days ago. My Google search for results in English returns 9,560 hits for "korv stroganoff"; 26,200 for "korvstroganoff"; and 8,800 for "sausage stroganoff". This actually suggests korvstroganoff may be better but I haven't dug into the quality of sources. WP:UE neither requires nor supports using a direct translation that is less common in English-language sources.--MYCETEAE 🍄‍🟫—talk 17:59, 18 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Looking at search results for sausage stroganoff, it seems like a large percentage of them are more traditional stroganoffs with egg noodles but the beef replaced with something like crumble/bulk, or just other, sausage ([1] [2]) – not this dish. If the name "Swedish sausage stroganoff" is inaccurate since Korv stroganoff has been adopted by other countries, I think this has to stay here per WP:PRECISE. The name korv stroganoff seems to occur enough in English language sources it's fine to keep--it's pretty common now a days for foreign dishes to enter English less or untranslated. Oppose, for now. Oppose: No new substantive rationale is offered in this renewed RM to justify overturning a consensus that was just reached days ago. The previous RM closed with consensus not to move.
  • The previous RM discussion concluded that 'Korv stroganoff' is used in English-language sources.
  • No attempt has been made to show that ‘sausage stroganoff’ is the english WP:COMMONNAME nor a name unique to this dish.
  • 'Korv Stroganoff' is more WP:PRECISE. Both WP:CONSISTENCY and WP:NATURALDAB support keeping culturally unique dish names in their native form when widely used in English

Continued addition of errors

@Lea 4545 you continuously rework the ingress to be incorrectly ambigous and overly specific.

Korv stroganoff or Korvstroganoff (lit. 'Sausage stroganoff') is a Swedish dish based on the Russian dish beef Stroganoff, which traditionally uses the local falukorv sausage as a substitute for the beef,[3] and often has a tomato-based sauce.

Let's start from the begninning.

  1. Capitalization: As you stated before, English Wikipedia should use the indigenous name for the dish. In Swedish, korvstroganoff is not a "name", it is a compound word, and should thus not capitalized in proper Swedish grammar.
  2. Falukorv: Any sausage can be used, falukorv just happens to be the default, thus the bit "which traditionally uses the local falukorv sausage as a substitute for the beef" is problematic since readers can glance over "traditionally" and miss the context between the lines, which is poor encyclopedic writing.
  3. Tomato base: The dish always includes tomato. In fact, some rare recipies even omits the loose dairly product. Thus, the bit "and often has a tomato-based sauce" is directly contradicting and incorrect.

The two latter has been pointed out on numerous occasions without response, yet you keep adding this text disruptively.

Lastly, and this is more subjective, the history section should be written in chronological order. Your last edit restowed the history section like this:

Korv Stroganoff started as a budget-friendly variation of beef Stroganoff, first introduced as a school meal in the 1950s, before spreading to households. The dish became a classic in Swedish home cooking and was Sweden's fifth most popular dish in 2022. It later spread to other countries. In Finnish, the dish is called makkarastroganoff. (lit. 'sausage stroganoff')

This is written like trivia. The dish became popular in Finland before 2022 and thus the bit about it being Sweden's fifth most popular dish in 2022 should be placed below it. Blockhaj (talk) 22:27, 8 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
