Description of suggested change: Fixing a link, bringing specific info from Israeli disengagement from the Gaza Strip

In 2006, the Israeli authorities closed the crossing for over 100 days due to terror alerts and rocket fire. By then, the Karni Crossing was managed by the [[Israel Airports Authority]], unlike the [[Erez Crossing]], which is managed by the [[Israel Defense Forces]].

A British Parliamentary commission, summing up the situation eight months after the [[Israeli disengagement from the Gaza Strip ]], found that from January–April 2006, the Karni crossing was closed 45% of the time, and severe limitations were in place on exports from Gaza, with, according to [[OCHA]] figures, only 1,500 of 8,500 tons of produce getting through; that they were informed most closures were unrelated to security issues in Gaza but either responses to violence in the West Bank or for no given reason. In such cases of rocket attacks, while Israeli authorities would portray such crossing closures as a non-factor in turning Gazan civilians into hostages in comparison to "the fact" of the [[Palestinian Authority]]'s inaction to prevent radical element action, the [[Palestinian Center for Human Rights]] considered the closure of al-Muntar crossing as "collective punishment[,]" asserting that this act was a violation of International Humanitarian Law. By then, the Karni Crossing was managed by the [[Israel Airports Authority]], unlike the [[Erez Crossing]], which is managed by the [[Israel Defense Forces]].
