Talk:Graylog

Article is Comparing this startup with Splunk, and making it look like a viable alternative to it. In reality though, this is a startup with a total funding on $15M, but splunk is a MNC with over $1.27B in annual revenue. Not at all significant, and not at all comparable to the leaders in its field . A7 . Daiyusha (talk) 12:50, 29 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Request to update the product section [COI]

[edit]
  • What I think should be changed (include citations):

I would like to request an update to the Graylog Log Management and Security Analytics Software section. I am a PR working on behalf of Graylog:

Graylog is a source-available, open-core Security Information and Event Management [SIEM] and log management platform, licensed under the Server Side Public License. It collects, indexes, and analyzes structured and unstructured machine data in real time.[1]

The platform’s architecture includes a core server component, with Graylog Data Node or OpenSearch handling log storage and indexing, and MongoDB managing metadata and configuration.[2] Data can be ingested from system logs, Windows event logs and application logs using protocols like Syslog, GELF, and Beats.

There are free and commercial editions of the software, with the paid version adding centralized log management, SIEM, and API security following the acquisition of Resurface.io.[3]

  • Why it should be changed:

This section does not provide detail about Graylog's product suite or architecture and is outdated. Compared to similar sections on the Splunk, Akamai and Trellix pages, it is very sparse.

Hello User:Likeanechointheforest - thank you for the feedback. I have updated the request (editing the wording above) and was wondering if you could take another look. Thank you! Jmewhyte (talk) 08:28, 10 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It still reads like a product catalog to me. Please try to condense it into the most encyclopedically relevant points. Likeanechointheforest (talk) 14:49, 12 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again user:likeanechointheforest. I've have reduced the copy, eliminating product descriptions. Please let me know if this is closer to be accepted. Jmewhyte (talk) 14:32, 24 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Partially implemented! Likeanechointheforest (talk) 17:12, 26 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Lead / History / Sidebar update request [COI]

[edit]

  • What I think should be changed (include citations):

I would like to make a request to update the lead and history sections:

Lead section:

Graylog, Inc. is an American software company based in Houston, Texas,[1] that develops log management and security analytics software. This software allows organizations to ingest structured and unstructured data, correlate events, detect anomalies, and augment logs with threat intelligence and asset context.

History section:

Graylog, originally named Torch,[2] was founded in 2009 by Lennart Koopmann and began as an open-source log management project in Hamburg, Germany. The company later relocated its headquarters to Houston, Texas.

In 2014, Mercury Fund[3] made its initial investment in Graylog, with additional backing from e.ventures, Crosslink Capital, Draper Associates, and High-Tech Gründerfonds.[4]

Graylog introduced its first commercial product in 2016 with the launch of Graylog Enterprise. Adoption of the open-source and enterprise editions expanded quickly, and by 2018 the software had been installed in more than 50,000 environments worldwide.[5]

In subsequent years, the company broadened its portfolio with Graylog Cloud, a fully managed SaaS offering, and continued enhancements to its SIEM and threat detection capabilities. By 2025, the main products were Graylog Open, Graylog Enterprise and Graylog Cloud.

Graylog maintains offices in Houston, Texas (HQ); Boulder, Colorado; London, United Kingdom; and Hamburg, Germany.

Sidebar section

1) Change Thanh Dinh (COO) --> Thanh Dinh (CFO) (https://graylog.org/leadership/) 2) Change employees from 50-100 --> 100-250 3) Add API Security to the Services section

  • Why it should be changed:

Lead: The lead is a stub, and the main product is no longer called Graylog, so it is outdated.

History: The changes keep the bulk of the entry, and just update some links and information about the company

Sidebar: Just updating basic company info
