Who is David Vine?

[edit]

A David Vine is quoted in the section Diego_Garcia#After_1971, and as they are quoted I think there should be some information about who they are. I am pretty sure they are not the person who presently has a WP article: David Vine who was an English television sports presenter. There are no other David Vines that I can find who have a WP article.

I am guessing that they are the same person as mentioned as "David Vine of The Washington Post" in the Territories_of_the_United_States article, and as mentioned 4 times in the references of in Marshall Islands article. They probably deserve an article of their own. A Google on "David Vine of The Washington Post" brings up lots of hits. FrankSier (talk) 18:17, 18 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Who is Stuart Barber in the section "Arrival of the US Navy?

[edit]

Perhaps the editor intended to cite something this person has written? The section goes on to make several unsourced statements which read like a summary. 2A02:8084:D6BA:7000:6C95:F5D0:9E4C:72EF (talk) 10:14, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

' "marginalized" '?

[edit]

in the text where footnote 59 is placed, why is the word 'marginalized' in double quotation marks? The word itself does not occur in the footnoted article, let alone in quotation marks. 2607:FEA8:FF01:4FA6:A91B:6034:B72F:FAFB (talk) 08:20, 23 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
