Indic script in infobox and lead
[edit]Unregistered editors 42.108.24.127 and 42.108.8.79, what you are doing is called 'edit warring' - please see the guidelines at WP:3RR, you are not permitted to keep restoring your preferred version of the page without any discussion. Sid95Q and I have both pointed you towards our manual of style guidelines at WP:NOINDICSCRIPT, and they are very clear - Indic script should not be used in the lead or the infobox. Please read these guidelines, and revert the changes you have made, or give a policy-based reason why the script should stay. GirthSummit (blether) 23:24, 28 October 2018 (UTC)

Dharmendra’s conversion to Islam
[edit]Read in an article that Dharmendra converted to Islam in 1979 to marry Hema Malini. Should that info be put in personal life?

I am trying to change the listing of Hema Malini in the infobox as, "partner " instead of, "spouse" but it is not happening. Please do the needful.115.96.177.152 (talk) 12:11, 21 February 2022 (UTC)
- @IP: The cited source indicates they were married, so can you explain why it should be changed to partner? -- Ab207 (talk) 12:26, 21 February 2022 (UTC)
- Ab207, Dharmendra never got divorced from his first wife, so Hema Malini is just a, '"partner".-115.96.177.152 (talk) 13:02, 21 February 2022 (UTC)
- As I understand, the article never says that he had divorced from his first wife. But the we cannot conclude that Malini is just a "partner" on that basis, as it amounts to WP:ORIGINALRESEARCH. Also, the source indicates that he indeed married her in 1979 by converting to Islam. -- Ab207 (talk) 13:54, 21 February 2022 (UTC)

Why you
[edit]Why you removed it idiot Vanshshoe (talk) 10:13, 23 May 2023 (UTC)
Dharmendra is "regarded as the most handsome man" should be removed
[edit]This is a subjective statement. None of the citations refer to some actual study that was done to support this and everything is written in vague terms. One article says he is considered the most handsome actor from the 70s, not in general. Three articles are about how three specific actors/actresses provided their opinions and not some study. Salman Khan and Arjun Rampal are also men and described him as beautiful more than handsome. Arjun Rampal's article also said that he (Arjun) is considered the most handsome.
There are many other news articles about the most handsome Indian actors, and each of them usually has different statements about who is the most handsome. By citing such articles you could add to almost every actor/actresses page that they are considered the most handsome/beautiful. Kashavam (talk) 22:47, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Kashavam: Agreed, statements like these contravene WP:PUFFERY not to mention makes Wikipedia look like a tabloid. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 09:57, 8 August 2023 (UTC)
Full Name/Birth Name
[edit]Fylindfotberserk, you recently added an ndtv news article as citation for Dharmendra's full name. The source doesn't seem to be very reliable considering that our Wikipedia article has this variant "Dharam Singh Deol" mentioned for over a decade. It may have been added by some user doing WP:SYNTHESIS and NDTV probably took this info from our page itself. In his affidavit for 2004 elections, he declared his name as "Dharmendra" rather than "Dharam Singh Deol". Such affidavits are considered more reliable than secondary sources like news articles. Dympies (talk) 19:21, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Dympies: Yup that affidavit would trump all the other sources. I've updated it. Thanks. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 19:26, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
- He changed his name again as Dharmedra Singh Deol, [1] 106.196.75.142 (talk) 13:08, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- and his son use Ajay Singh Dharmendra Deol accoding to affidavit 106.196.75.142 (talk) 13:14, 23 July 2025 (UTC)
- If this is Robzz, I'd suggest using the registered ID instead of an IP. The mid-name "Singh" doesn't imply much about the background (see WP:OR). Also this source isn't reliable since it talk about the film credit not official name. Secondly, it talks about another news portal (Hindustan Times) and alleges something (see MOS:ALLEGED). Third, it says his father's name is "Kewal Kishan Singh Deol" which is wrong per the affifdavit, there is no Singh" in the name. Fourth, we write what is explicitly self-identified per WP:NOR and WP:BLPPRIVACY pe which he self-identified as a "Hindu" as well as "Arya Samaj" is mentioned, the former part was removed, which is disruptive/POV edit. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 13:38, 23 July 2025 (UTC)

Dharmendra Kewal Krishan Deol (born 8 December 1935), known mononymously as Dharmendra, was an Indian actor, producer, and politician who is primarily known for his work in Hindi films. Dharmendra is widely considered one of the greatest, most handsome and commercially successful film stars in the history of Indian cinema.[2] He is nicknamed the "He-Man" of Bollywood. With a cinematic career spanning over six decades, he has worked in more than 300 films.[3][4] Dharmendra holds the record for starring in the highest number of hit films in Hindi cinema.[5][6] In 1973, he delivered eight hits and in 1987, Dharmendra delivered seven consecutive hits and nine successful movies in a single year which is still a record in the history of Hindi cinema.[7] In 2012, he was honoured with the Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian honour. Dharmendra death hoax
[edit]Seems like sources reporting Dharmendra's death are all a hoax. See this. Dharmendra was simply in a hospital for a simple routine check-up. "Someone may have spotted him and created a news piece. He is absolutely fine and there’s nothing to be worried about.
" And: "He is in great spirits and just went for his scheduled tests
". In simple terms, someone saw Dharmendra in a hospital, assumed the worst, and gave erratic reports. In even more simple terms, it's a hoax.
To whoever changes content in the article pointing that Dharmendra is dead, I'm gonna ping you here. Hacked (Talk|Contribs) 20:17, 10 November 2025 (UTC)
- [2]: "
Amid false rumours of his death, Hema Malini and Esha Deol issued statements confirming that the veteran actor is recovering well.
" So yes, I was right about the death hoax. He's alive. Hacked (Talk|Contribs) 03:00, 12 November 2025 (UTC)
