Newfoundland

[edit]

Newfoundland also became a Dominion in 1907, same year as NZ 2607:FEA8:FF01:4FA6:88FE:164:381C:5B7E (talk) 02:23, 31 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

the section I'm referring to is in the lede. just as New Zealand doesn't have a reference or citation I guess Newfoundland wouldn't have to have one either. 2607:FEA8:FF01:4FA6:88FE:164:381C:5B7E (talk) 02:50, 31 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Terminology - "realm"

[edit]

I made the below comment on QE2 but it belongs here. Roger 8 Roger (talk) 22:35, 4 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Is the first sentence correct? It says the term 'realm' is an informal description of the various commonwealth states and links to those states' articles. However, for at least one of them, the Realm is not the same as the country, New Zealand and does have a more formal legal status. The article links to the realm of NZ, not NZ. The other so-called realms link to the respective countries. Roger 8 Roger (talk) 03:35, 4 September 2025 (UTC) [Copied from QE2]
The first sentence just states that she was the Queen of a unspecific number of realms. As for New Zealand, that is a unique situation where the usual vocabulary doesn't really work, for example your statement hinges heavily on how to define "country", and has a presumption for what exactly "New Zealand" is. Such details are likely best left to dedicated pages. CMD (talk) 03:59, 4 September 2025 (UTC) [Copied from QE]
