Oranienburg concentration camp?
[edit]How can she be moved to Oranienburg concentration camp around 44 when that was closed in 34-36 according to Oranienburg concentration camp?
Oranienburg was gradually deactivated, closing by 1935.[2]
the closure of the camp in July 1934[3]
Are we sure she wasn't sent to Sachsenhausen concentration camp instead, which is near Oranienburg?
I think mittelhessen.de is wrong, because bundesstiftung-aufarbeitung.de says Beide wurden im August 1944 erneut festgenommen. Cäcilie Schaefer kam in das KZ Ravensbrück, konnte beim Todesmarsch im April 1945 fliehen und gelangte im Mai 1945 nach Hessen.
and does not mention KZ Oranienburg at all.

From 1942, more than 100 satellite details and satellite camps were set up in the course of the mass deployment of concentration camp internees as forced labourers in the armaments industry. These camps were located near arms factories such as the Heinkel aircraft works in Oranienburg or next to Berlin arms factories such as those of AEG and Siemens.
[4] So it looks like it was (one of the sattelite camps of) Sachsenhausen. Polygnotus (talk) 13:03, 11 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Polygnotus, I agree, it must be Sachsenhausen. It's a pretty famous camp and it's in Oranienburg so it's an easy mistake to make, though not in the way it's reported in that source. That source does say she was deported there from Ravensbrück, which would make sense for Sachsenhausen, since that's where many prisoners from the east were sent near the end of the war. We're probably best to elide that detail in our article for now. -- asilvering (talk) 18:45, 12 October 2025 (UTC)

OK, so she went to Ravensbrück, then escaped. - hessen.vvn-bda.de says
In 1944 she was arrested again and deported to the Ravensbrück concentration camp and later to Sachsenhausen. She survived the death marches and returned to Marburg after the liberation of Germany from fascism.
So she didn't escape from Ravensbrück but got sent to Sachsenhausen? - mittelhessen.de says

This is wrong, she can't have been sent to a camp that was no longer operating. But it does match the pattern Ravensbrück => Sachsenhausen, if we assume the "KZ" in "KZ Oranienburg" was a mistake. - To make it more complicated, her husband was freed during a death march. Last name
[edit]Why is she called Cilly Schäfer but her husband is called Jakob Schaefer? We should use either Schäfer or Schaefer for both. Polygnotus (talk) 21:44, 12 October 2025 (UTC)
