Would it be impolite...

[edit]

Would it be impolite to say that this article is utter crap? Will someone either delete it or improve it? 86.132.221.224 (talk) 21:48, 1 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'm doing the research to improve the article. There are so many news and scholarly articles surrounding this. Vinhloc30796 (talk) 17:57, 26 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Can AngelList really be classified as a crowd funding service? Dexterous1802 (talk) 20:11, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

→I think yes, because although most investment deals are private and for accredited investors only, they are still a "crowd" of investors, not just one or two. Vinhloc30796 (talk) 07:47, 6 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Awful

[edit]

This article is awful promotion and needs real pruning. What are all these bold marks? I have cut a lot of fluff out of this article. I guess this has been added by a PR firm, so you need to write it more concisely before you add it again. Its way too much detail that is not suitable for wikipedia, we dont follow ever small detail about a company. Read WP:NOTADVERTISING before you add more promo content again. COI Edit Request: History Section Update - 2019 Transformation

[edit]

Disclosure: I am an employee of AngelList and have a conflict of interest regarding this article. See my user page for full disclosure.

Proposed change: Add information about CEO Avlok Kohli's description of AngelList's 2019 transformation to the History section.

Rationale: This information provides important context about AngelList's strategic pivot in 2019, which represents a significant milestone in the company's evolution. The quote comes from an independent interview with an established fintech industry publication.

Source:

  • Sokolin, Lex (2025). "Podcast: Inside the Platform Powering +$171B in Private Capital, with AngelList CEO Avlok Kohli". The Fintech Blueprint. Retrieved 09/29/25.

Proposed text:

"In a 2025 interview, CEO Avlok Kohli described 2019 as a "founding moment" for AngelList, when he spun out the company's syndicates business and transformed it into a fintech platform focused on fund management infrastructure. Kohli stated that AngelList "started off as a place for startups to come raise capital from VCs" and had evolved into "the go-to fintech platform for [general partners] that are looking to raise or scale their fund""

Suggested placement: This text could be added to the History section, either near the beginning to provide context for the company's evolution, or after the paragraph discussing the 2019 CEO transition.

I believe this addition would improve the article by providing encyclopedic context about the company's strategic direction while maintaining NPOV. I welcome feedback from uninvolved editors and am open to modifications that better serve Wikipedia's standards.

Meh, we dont really need podcasts as our sources. Find a mainstream source. Jtbobwaysf (talk) 08:43, 30 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Jtbobwaysf - Thank you for the feedback on podcasts as sources. As the proposed text above included direct quotes from that podcast interview, we'll pursue an alternate source and proposal separately. MTLuera (talk) 22:31, 30 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

COI Edit Request: History Section Update - 2019 Transformation

[edit]

== COI Edit Request: History Section - CEO Transition and Strategic Shift ==

Disclosure: I am an employee of AngelList and have a conflict of interest regarding this article. See my user page for full disclosure.

Proposed change: Add information about AngelList's strategic shift under CEO Avlok Kohli to the History section.

Rationale: This information provides important context about AngelList's transformation beginning in 2019, which represents a significant milestone in the company's evolution. The information comes from a TechCrunch article based on an exclusive interview with the CEO.

Source: * Azevedo, Mary Ann (July 28, 2023). "AngelList expands into private equity with acquisition of fintech startup Nova". TechCrunch. Retrieved 10/01/25.

Proposed text:

"After Avlok Kohli became CEO in 2019, AngelList shifted its focus from serving startups and early-stage investors to building infrastructure for fund management. Kohli described the company's mission as "building the infrastructure that powers the startup economy, including all the infrastructure needed to run venture funds." Under his leadership, AngelList expanded from syndicates and SPVs to larger venture funds.[1]"

Suggested placement: This text could be added to the first History section after the description of the company's founding in 2010, providing context for the company's evolution. I believe this addition would improve the article by providing encyclopedic context about the company's strategic direction while maintaining NPOV. I welcome feedback from uninvolved editors and am open to modifications that better serve Wikipedia's standards.

Normally we dont like these PR like quotes and prefer it to be in summary. Probably a summarized version would be fine. The source looks ok to me. Probably only this: "After Avlok Kohli became CEO in 2019, AngelList shifted its focus from serving startups and early-stage investors to building infrastructure for fund management." Comments? Thanks! Jtbobwaysf (talk) 08:09, 7 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, thank you for letting me know about the preference to keep it in summary. I'm fine with what you suggested above! Thank you @Jtbobwaysf 2601:283:5101:75E0:998:4050:B015:6906 (talk) 14:59, 7 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • I partially implemented the request above. Didnt seem clear from the tech crunch article (which appeared to be PR heavy) if the article subject was adding a new product or service, or if doing a full pivot. So I errored on caution, as this is what we do in wikivoice. Jtbobwaysf (talk) 05:49, 8 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Empowering women and youths

[edit]

Hello,

My name is Jemma Kajuju, an entrepreneur based in Kenya. I’m currently developing innovative business opportunities aimed at supporting African economic growth and would love to connect with potential investors and partners through your platform.

Our flagship project focuses on AgriTech solutions that empower women and youth farmers through access to clean energy-powered irrigation systems, digital farming tools, and training programs. The goal is to enhance productivity, create sustainable employment, and promote climate-smart agriculture across rural Kenya.

I’m particularly interested in learning how your organization supports startups and what collaboration or funding opportunities might be available.

Best regards, Jemma Kajuju Jemmakajuju (talk) 14:21, 28 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
