Formerly independent?

What is the definition of “independent” in a case like this?

The cited article (on thecanadianencyclopedia.ca) was written in 2010 and last updated in 2016. I have no doubt that Analekta was indeed, at that time, the largest independent classical music recording label in Canada. However, as the History section mentions, Analekta was acquired by Outhere in 2022. Can it still be considered independent? 207.60.71.246 (talk) 19:16, 2 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
