How a near-forgotten corner of Wikipedia caused a error in worldwide news

Articles for major football leagues in europe is very frequently updated. FA Cup is even given precise details of the qualifying rounds (which amateur teams compete). However, a third-tier league for a less strong country in football is a near-forgotten corner of Wikipedia.
Then FC Pasching beat 3 top teams in Austrian Bundesliga - Rapid Wien, Red Bull Salzburg, and Austria Wien to win the Austrian Cup and a play-off spot in Europa League. The article is not updated, and someone took the position in Round 22~24 as final standings, then incorrectly claims Pasching is entering promotion-playoffs.^{[1] [2] [3]} ibicdlcod (talk) 05:44, 2 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
