Singrid Campion (born 27 July 1976) is a French businesswoman and singer known for her involvement in the fairground industry and her musical career in Gypsy jazz.[1][2] As the daughter of fairground industrialist Marcel Campion, she manages attractions at the Tuileries Garden and the Foire du Trône in Paris.[3][4]
Early life and education
[edit]Singrid Campion was born on 27 July 1976 in a caravan located in the Tuileries Garden in Paris.[5] Her birth coincided with a heatwave while her father was hosting guests at the park's refreshment stand.[5] She is the granddaughter of a street circus performer.[5]
Campion received what she describes as a "fairground education," where learning occurred within the community rather than through traditional academic institutions.[5] This upbringing integrated business operations and music into daily life, with Gypsy jazz culture playing a central educational role.[5][6]
Career
[edit]Campion operates as an artisan fairground merchant ("artisan forain").[5] Her business activities include managing carousels and traveling attractions.[7][8] She is an associate in SCI Forever and has launched a CBD product retail line.[9][10]
Musically, Campion performs in the jazz manouche style.[6] Her album Paris mi amor (2018) includes songs such as "Paris défile" and "Un pour tous, tous forains," addressing fairground themes.[11] She has performed at L'Olympia, Cirque d'Hiver, and other venues in Paris.[12][13][14]
Advocacy
[edit]Campion advocates for the fairground community.[15] She has publicly addressed municipal decisions affecting fairground sites in Paris, including removals at the Place de la Concorde and Champs-Élysées.[16] Her media appearances and songs reflect the cultural concerns of fairground workers.[17][18]
