Shashwat Singh (born 1990) is an Indian playback singer who primarily works in the Hindi film industry. He was born in Allahabad (now Prayagraj), Uttar Pradesh, India. Singh made his playback singing debut in Bollywood with the song "Wat Wat Wat" from the 2015 film Tamasha.[1] Since his debut, Singh has collaborated with A. R. Rahman on several projects, including the 2025 film Thug Life, in which he sang the track "Sugar Baby"; the film is directed by Mani Ratnam and stars Kamal Haasan.[2][3]
Career
[edit]In 2025, Singh lent his voice to the track[4] 'Zamaana Lage'[5] from the film Metro... In Dino.[6] [7]
Singh has also contributed vocals to several notable songs in Hindi cinema, including "Ruby Ruby" from[8] Sanju, "Haan Main Galat" from Love Aaj Kal, "Sarsariya" from Mohenjo Daro,[9] "Alizeh" from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, "Show Me The Thumka" from Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar,[10][11] "Mere Sawaal Ka" from "Shehzada",[12][13] and "Saregama Carvaan Medley" from Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani,[14] among others.
In 2020, he performed five songs for the film "99 Songs".[15]
Apart from Hindi, Singh has also recorded songs in other Indian languages, including Bengali.[16][17] In addition to playback singing, he performs at live concerts and events with his band.[18][19]
In 2025 Shashwat Singh[20] collaborated with Nikhita Gandhi to form a musical duo under the name 'ShNik'. Their debut single, "Kaahe," blends elements of folk and hip-hop.[21][22] That same year, Singh lent his voice to singles such as "Burai",[23][24] "Talab",[25] and "Jachhey Mujhe".[26]
