Sandra Smolen Jaffe (March 10, 1938 - December 27, 2021) co-owned and operated Preservation Hall in New Orleans.[1] She established Preservation Hall with her husband Allan Jaffe in 1961.[2][3] In 2006 she accepted a National Medal of Arts award on behalf of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band.[4] Her son Ben Jaffe is the band leader of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band.[5]
Early life
[edit]Jaffee was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.[1] She graduated from Harcum College.[1] She married Allan Jaffee in 1960 and they had two sons.[1]
