Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic

The relationship between Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic and Syria is regarded as a close-range relations between two countries. Ba'athist Syria officially recognized SADR on 15 April 1980.[1]

History

Assad ruled Ba'athist Syria has historically provided political support to the Polisario Front, a Sahrawi group fighting against Morocco. After the fall of the Assad regime, the Syrian transitional government have officially confirmed the closure of offices previously used by members of the Polisario in Damascus, marking a significant shift in Syria’s foreign policy and a move towards strengthening diplomatic relations with Morocco.[2]
