Sadia Kabeya (born 22 February 2002) is an English rugby union player. She plays for England internationally[1] and Loughborough Lightning in the Premier 15s.[2]
Early life and education
[edit]A talented teenage field athlete,[3][4] Kabeya was first introduced to rugby at school at Harris City Academy in Croydon, where her PE teacher was Bryony Cleall. Developing an interest in the game, she joined Streatham-Croydon R.F.C.as a teenager.Kabeya's father, Gilbert, is Congolese from DRC and moved to the UK in his twenties, where he met Lisa, Kabeya's mum, whose father was Jamaican
Club career
[edit]Kabeya first played for Richmond Women before moving to Wasps Women and then Loughborough Lightning.[4]
International career
[edit]In September 2019, Kabeya captained the England U18s in the Rugby Europe Women's U18 Sevens Championship.[4]
She made her international debut for the senior England 15s team on 14 November 2021 against Canada.[5] She played against Italy as England took the grand slam in the 2022 Women's Six Nations Championship.[6]
In September 2021, Kabeya was named in the England squad for the COVID-delayed 2021 Rugby World Cup[7] and started in the opening game against Fiji,[8] where she was named Player of the Match.[9]
On 17 March 2025, she was called into England's squad for the Women's Six Nations Championship.[10][11] She was named in England's side for the 2025 Women's Rugby World Cup.[12][13]
