The State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) was responsible for regulating China's film, television, and radio industries from 1998 to 2013, before being restructured into the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT) in 2013. In March 2018, the SAPPRFT was abolished and its functions of the movie, press and publication industry regulation were moved from the State Council to the CCP's Central Propaganda Department as part of the deepening the reform of the Party and state institutions.
