Rollan Roberts II (born April 10, 1979) is an American businessman and political figure. He was a Republican candidate in the 2024 United States presidential election.[1] Roberts has been involved in various business ventures and advisory roles related to economic development and education.[2][3][4][5]
Early life and education
[edit]Roberts was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and raised in Beaver, West Virginia. His father, Rollan A. Roberts, serves as a Republican state senator in West Virginia and also has a background as a pastor and educator.[6][7] He attended Crown College in Powell, Tennessee, where he earned a bachelor's degree in youth ministry. He later received a Master of Business Administration from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, and a Doctorate of Business Administration from California Intercontinental University.[8][5]
Career
[edit]Roberts has worked in business, consulting, and advisory capacities. His professional activities have included involvement with projects related to economic and social development in regions of Africa and Asia.[9][10]
He has founded or been associated with several organizations, including Transform Africa and the U.S. Center for Diplomacy. He has also participated in initiatives concerning education, clean water, and entrepreneurship.[9][10]
Roberts has been a member of advisory boards such as the African-Asian Chamber of Commerce & Industry and previously served on boards for Guys with Ties and Junior Achievement. He has also been associated with the Direct Selling Association’s Education Committee and the National Down Syndrome Entrepreneur Academy.[11][12]
In 2017, Roberts spoke at an event at Beijing’s Great Hall of the People, addressing topics related to intellectual property and U.S.–China trade relations. He has also taken part in discussions or advisory efforts involving government officials in South Sudan and Ukraine.[9][10]
2024 presidential campaign
[edit]Roberts announced his candidacy for President of the United States in 2024 as a member of the Republican Party. During his campaign announcement, an incident occurred in which his wife fainted while standing beside him. The moment received significant media coverage and attention on social media platforms.[6][13]
