Pinky Cheung Man-Chi (Chinese: 張文慈, born 30 September 1971), is a Hong Kong actress, she was once an artist under Asia Television and currently has a basic artist contract with TVB and is a former Shaw Brothers artist.
Background
[edit]Cheung attended the Buddhist Lee Chak Po Memorial School in Lei Muk Shue Estate, Tsuen Wan and Carmel Alison Lam Foundation Secondary School in Kwai Chung. She later studied in Japan. In the early 1990s, she entered the industry as an amateur model but did not make her official debut. In 1996, Cheung participated in the Miss Asia Pageant and won the "Best Body Award" in the semi-finals,[2] and successfully advanced to the finals. Although the finals she advanced to the top eight,[3] she did not make it to top three finally. After that, she signed a contract with Asia Television and participated in many TV series, including the more famous Forrest Cat, Flaming Brothers, and the My Date With a Vampire series. She was later discovered by Manfred Wong and signed a contract with Movie Dynasty Company to shoot several movies. The first movie was Young and Dangerous (1996), and other movies included Violent Cop, Healing Hearts, Love Undercover and Color of the Truth. In addition to filming movies, he also participated in acting in dramas and variety shows on Asia Television, and participated in performing on stage and in Hong Kong Radio television programs.
In March 2010, Cheung left Asia Television. In July 2010, she has baptised and become a Christian. Later, she even claimed that in order to strengthen her faith in Jesus, she had almost completely washed off the tattoo of the Guanyin pronunciation on her neck.[4] In 2012, she was awarded the "ATV55 Female Artist Award" at the 55th Anniversary of Asia Television. In 2013, she turned to the film industry and announced at an event in September 2016 that she had signed a two-year contract with TVB,[5][6] mainly participated in the filming of TV series.[7] In 2018, she played the character Wong Man / Wong Si-Sin (汪敏/ 汪司膳) in Deep in the Realm of Conscience and her acting skills were well received. In the same year, she played Mak Oi-Fa (麥愛花) in the anniversary drama Life on the Line. She is a sibling of Mak Joi-Tin (麥在田) played by Joe Ma. Her acting skills were praised by the audience and netizens again.
