P.R2B, born Pauline Rambeau de Baralon on November 26, 1990 in Saint-Doulchard, Cher, is a French singer-songwriter and director.

Biography

[edit]

From the Bourges area, daughter of a professional guitarist[1] and a mother working in a production workshop in Centre-Val de Loire,[2][3] P.R2B began her instrumental practice with the clarinet at the municipal music school. In high school, she started playing guitar and writing.[4]

She took the cinema option at the high school in Nevers and continued her studies at La Fémis, the National School of Visual Arts and Sound Techniques in Paris,[5] where she earned a degree as a director in 2016.[2] Her graduation short film, directed under the guidance of Laetitia Masson, is titled Bird’s Lament, inspired by a composition by Moondog. In the film, a young woman studying clarinet discovers this American composer's music in a record store and develops a deep passion for it. During the same period, she also took courses at Cours Florent.[4][5]

On September 11, 2020, her first EP titled Des rêves was released.[6] It is described as "blending hip-hop and French chanson with 80s influences ('Le film à l'envers')" by Benoit Gaboriaud.[7] The EP received positive reviews, notably from Laura Marie of Les Inrockuptibles,[8] as well as other critics.[9]

On June 16, 2021, P.R2B released the track Mélancolie from her first album Rayons Gamma, which was released on October 22, 2021.[10]

The album received a very warm critical reception upon its release: "A powerful debut album for the revelation P.R2B"[11] notes Le Parisien, "At 30 years old, P.R2B shakes up the music world"[12] according to Télérama, and Libération describes it as "a successful album that goes straight to the heart."[13]

She simultaneously announced a tour across France, including a date at La Cigale on March 23, 2022.[14]

She composed the music for Kamal Lazraq's film Les Meutes, released in 2023.[15][16]

In 2025, she composed the original score for Amélie Bonnin's film Partir un jour (set to release in 2025).][17]
