Francesco De Nigris[1] (Born in Salento, Italy on December 22, 1994), better known as Kybba, is an Italian reggae and dancehall deejay and producer.[2] Founder of the Basshall movement in 2016, which fuses urban genres such as dancehall with Latin, Caribbean, Afrobeat and electronic influences.[3]
Career
[edit]Born in Salento, Italia, and raised in Amsterdam. Kybba grew up immersed in a multicultural soundscape that shaped his inclusive style. From a young age, he blended dancehall with global elements.[4]
In 2016, he founded Basshall Movement, a platform dedicated to dancehall, urban, Caribbean, and Afro-Caribbean music, redefining his career. The focus on "unity through music" is reflected in productions that fuse languages and styles, maintaining the essence of dancehall as its core.[5][6] In 2024, Kybba performed at Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), Tomorrowland, and festivals such as City Splash.[7] Their presence in Latin America is booming, with plans to expand to the United States.[8] Also visiting cities such as London, Paris, Berlin, Barcelona, Hamburg, standing out with their sets.[9][10]
In 2025, Major Lazer released "Gangsta" featuring Busy Signal and Kybba, along with the British-Jamaican group America Foster. Their debut, an energetic dancehall track with EDM influences, climbed the Billboard charts.[11][12]
In 2025 later, he worked on his own releases with Ryan Castro, in addition to producing and collaborating with numerous artists as a vocalist and producer for record labels, including his own, Ba Ba Bad.[13] The album How You Bad Suh, produced by Kybba, featured Sean Paul and Busy Signal placing itself within the Billboard Colombia Hot 100 list.[14][15]
