Kerkula Blama (born 25 April 1994), is a Liberian blogger, digital media entrepreneur and founder of Geez Liberia, an online platform that covers entertainment, culture, and lifestyle stories.[1][2]

Early life and education

Blama was born in Salala, Bong County, Liberia. [1][3] He grew up partly in Monrovia and later in the Firestone region where he attended the Firestone School System. [4] He is currently studying Management with Minor in Public Administration at the African Methodist Episocpal University.[4] [2]

Career

Blama’s media journey began around 2016 when he worked as with PlusLiberia as a writer and web manager. [1]In 2018 founded Geez Liberia, (initially called LIB Geez), transforming it from a Facebook page into a full digital media platform that publishes articles, interviews, and commentary on Liberian music, film, and lifestyle trends.[5][2]

Recognition and awards

  • In 2025, Blama received the Young Achievers Africa Awards in Kigali, Rwanda, [6][7]
  • According to FrontPage Africa and other regional news outlets, he was awarded “Blogger of the Year” at the Music Video Africa Awards in Lagos, Nigeria, for his contribution to digital media.[8] [9] [10]
  • Geez Liberia also received the Paynesville Entertainment Awards, in 2024 marking a major milestone for the platform.[11][12] [13]
  • Blama has also been profiled by several local and regional news outlets for his role in promoting Liberian creative industries, including Frontpage Africa, News Ghana, Liberian Observer and Ameyaw Debrah.[1][14][4]
