History

[edit]

KYYX first signed on the air in 1966.[4] The station is currently owned by iHeartMedia, Inc., through its licensee iHM Licenses, LLC, and is part of the company's cluster of stations serving the Minot market.[5] In 2007, KYYX was included in the proposed sale of 185 Clear Channel (now iHeartMedia) radio stations to GoodRadio, LLC. The deal was ultimately terminated due to financing issues, resulting in KYYX remaining under iHeartMedia ownership.

Previous KYYX stations

[edit]

This radio station is not the first with the callsign KYYX. The original KYYX operated as a new wave-themed radio station in Seattle, Washington, in the early 1980s. A country radio station in Las Vegas, Nevada, operated as KYYX from 1985 to 1987 before going off the air and changing its callsign.[6]
