Huseyn Huseynov (Azerbaijani: Hüseyn Cəlil oğlu Hüseynov; 20 December 1972) is a Doctor of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, laureate of the Youth Award (2013), author of the patents "Fire Device" and "Method of Selective Purification of Diesel Distillate", Director of the Central Scientific Library of ANAS (since April 2, 2024).
Life and Career
[edit]Huseyn Huseynov was born on December 20, 1978, in the Karakhanbeyli village of Fuzuli District. He began studies at the Karakhanbeyli secondary school in 1985, and finished secondary school No. 179 of Binagadi district in 1996. That same year, he entered the Faculty of Power Engineering at the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Physics and Technology of High Voltages in 2000. He completed his master’s studies at the same Academy with honors in 2002.
Huseyn Huseynov worked at the Institute of Physics of ANAS as an engineer, junior researcher, researcher, senior researcher, and leading researcher from 2002 to 2015. He served as Deputy Head of the Scientific-Analytical Department of the Science and Education Office of the Presidium of ANAS in 2015–2016. He was Head of the Master’s Department of the Science and Education Office of the Presidium of ANAS in 2016–2017. He worked as Deputy Head of the Science and Education Office of the Presidium of ANAS. He served as Deputy Head of the Scientific-Organizational Office of the Presidium of ANAS in 2021–2022. He was Head of the Department for the Organization of Scientific, Technical, and Innovative Activities of the Presidium of ANAS in 2022–2023. He worked as Head of the Science and Education Department of the Presidium of ANAS from 2023 to 2024. He is also an Associate Professor at the Azerbaijan Technical University.[2]
Huseyn Huseynov became a winner of the 1st Grant Competition for Young Scientists and Specialists (EIF/GAM-1-2011-2(4)-26/02/1-M-02) announced by the Science Development Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2011, and he was the winner of the 5th Mobility Grant (EIF-Mob-5-2014-2(17)-14/01/1) in 2014.[3]
Over the years, he has participated in international scientific conferences and training programs held in the Kingdoms of Norway and Spain, the Republic of Türkiye, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, the Republic of Georgia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the Russian Federation.
He has served as the Director of the Central Scientific Library of ANAS since April 2, 2024.[4]
During a visit to Azerbaijan, the Minister of Education of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Nazim Cavusoglu, and Ufuk Turganer the TRNC representative in Baku took part in the opening of the "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus" diplomatic corner at the Central Scientific Library on May 30, 2024. The director, Huseyn Huseynov, provided the minister with general information about the library, which cooperates with 126 institutions in 46 countries.[5] The guests familiarized themselves with the literature donated to the library by the TRNC representation in Azerbaijan, displayed in the specially created corner within the "Academic Hall" at the opening ceremony.
Nobel Prize laureate in Chemistry, Honorary Member of ANAS, Professor of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the University of North Carolina (USA), world-renowned scientist Aziz Sancar, visited the Central Scientific Library and got acquainted with its innovations on May 31, 2024.[6]
Memorandum of cooperation was signed between Huseyn Huseynov, Director of the Central Scientific Library, and Bahram Abdullayev, Rector of Urgench State University of Uzbekistan on June 27, 2024.[7]
Huseyn Huseynov was awarded the title of Honorary Member of the Azerbaijan Publishers Association on December 19, 2024.[8]
Huseyn Huseynov is also the head of the territorial party organization of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) for the Central Scientific Library at the Yasamal district (Baku) branch.

Awards
[edit]- He was awarded the Youth Prize in the “Science and Education” nomination established by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in 2011;[3]
- He was honored with the Honorary Diploma of the President of ANAS in 2021–2022;
- He was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the President of ANAS on the occasion of Science Day in 2023;
- He was awarded the title of Honorary Member of the Azerbaijan Publishers Association in 2024.
Scientific Activity
[edit]Huseyn Huseynov was admitted to the postgraduate program of the Institute of Physics in 2003, where he defended his dissertation on the topic "Effective Methods for Solving Environmental Problems of Electric Power Engineering Based on Electrophysical Processes", earning the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Technical Sciences in 2012.[3]
He defended his post-doctoral dissertation on "Development of Processes for Dearomatization and Desulfurization of Oil and Fuel Distillates Using Ionic Liquid Solvents" in 2024 and receiving the degree of Doctor of Engineering Sciences.
At present, he is the author of 98 scientific manuscripts (43 published an abroad, 19 published in journals abstracted and indexed in international databases) and 2 patents (“Fire Device" and "Method of Selective Purification of Diesel Distillate").[2]
Main Scientific Achievements
[edit]The main scientific achievements of Huseyn Huseynov include: effective purification of the main pollutants generated by energy systems under the influence of electrical discharges—such as CO, CO₂, NOx, SOx, H₂S, CH₄, and other gases—using various types of adsorbents; removal of sulfur compounds present in liquid fuels; purification of numerous contaminants found in industrial wastewater through adsorption under electrical discharge conditions; study of the characteristics of desorption processes under electrical discharge; regulation of the composition of atmospheric air in large volumes; electron technology for ozone gas synthesis; research on factors affecting the ozone layer of the atmosphere; and improving the efficiency of fire devices.[3]
