Dylan Bachelet (born 2004)[1] is a British pastry chef.
Early life and education
[edit]Bachelet was born in 2004,[1] and grew up in Milton Keynes; his mother is of Gujarati Indian descent, and was involved in fashion; his father is Japanese–Belgian.[2][3] Bachelet attended Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School.[4] He achieved four A*s at A-level and started a degree in biomedical engineering before dropping out to pursue a culinary career.[5][verification needed]
Career
[edit]Bachelet trained at Raymond Blanc's two Michelin-starred restaurant, Le Manoir, in Oxfordshire.[5] but continued to support himself through other work (e.g., as a "retail assistant" or "retail temp").[1][2] He then applied to and competed in the fifteenth series of The Great British Bake Off, at age 20, at the end of November 2024, and finished as a runner-up, behind Welsh series winner, Georgie Grasso.[5][6][7] In the month following, the MP for Aylesbury, England, Laura Kyrke-Smith, offered congratulations to Bachelet in a question to the Leader of the House of Commons, MP Lucy Powell.[8][relevant?] Of the various contestants, Bachelet has received significant media attention in England and the United States, for reasons including his age, appearance, and sense of style.[4][1][5][3][9][10][original research?]
Thereafter, Bachelet was recruited, while still age 20, to be a chef de partie at the Michelin-starred Five Fields in Chelsea, London.[11][9][10][needs update]
