Draft:Wirehive 100

The Wirehive 100 Awards were an annual awards programme and league table recognising digital agencies based in the South and South East of England. Founded in 2012, the awards sought to highlight agencies outside London and to showcase what organisers described as the "digital excellence and exceptional individuals in the South".[1][2]

The awards combined a ranked "Top 100" league table of agencies with multiple judged categories. Each year the ceremony took place at a different large venue, with themes and entertainment intended to encourage networking and community among the region's agencies.

Impact

[edit]

The Wirehive 100 awards sought to provide visibility to regional agencies outside London. Agencies used their rankings and awards as marketing tools; Bozboz reported that its Wirehive placement led directly to new business, describing a "five-figure client" won "off the back of our placement in the Wirehive100 League Table".[16]

The awards also highlighted individual achievement through categories such as "Rising Star" and "Agency Leader".[12] Events were noted for elaborate production values, with organisers describing 2014 as "the biggest and best digital awards ceremony in the South".[7]

Legacy

[edit]

The Wirehive 100 awards ran annually from 2012 to 2019. A 2020 edition was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with only an online table published.[17]

In 2021 the organising company, Wirehive, was acquired by Pax8, ending the awards programme.[18]
