Western Region Gold Co., Ltd. (Chinese: 西部黄金股份有限公司), also known as West Gold, is a Chinese gold mining company based in Urumqi, Xinjiang. It is a publicly listed company on the Shanghai Stock Exchange under the ticker 601069. The company is primarily engaged in gold exploration, mining, and processing activities in western China, particularly in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.[2]
History
[edit]Western Region Gold was established in 2002 as a subsidiary of Xinjiang Nonferrous Metals Group, a state-owned enterprise under the supervision of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) of Xinjiang.[2] The company was formed to consolidate gold mining assets in western China and support mineral development in remote regions. It was listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2016.[4]
Operations
[edit]The company's core operations are located in Xinjiang, where it manages several gold mines and exploration projects. In addition to gold, the company is involved in limited production of silver and other associated minerals.[2]
Ownership
[edit]Western Region Gold is majority-owned by Xinjiang Nonferrous Metals Group, which itself is under the jurisdiction of the SASAC of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.[2]
