Vectary is a browser-based 3D modeling and collaboration software platform founded in 2014 in Slovakia. The software is used to create, edit, and share 3D computer graphics, including applications in product visualization, augmented reality, and digital twin creation. It is positioned as a no-code development platform accessible through a web browser, for macOS and Windows without requiring local installation.[1][2]
History
[edit]Vectary was founded in 2014 by designer Michal Koor and developer Pavol Sovis in Bratislava, Slovakia.[3]
In October 2020, the company raised a $7.3 million (€6.2 million) Series A round led by EQT Ventures, with participation from BlueYard Capital.[1] The round was also reported by UK Tech News, EU-Startups, and AI-Demand.[4][5][6]
From 2021 onwards, Vectary expanded its integrations and workflows. Hackaday noted the introduction of photorealistic rendering tools for 3D models in 2021.[7] In 2023, Develop3D reported on Vectary’s positioning for online retail use and 3D asset management.[8]
In 2024, Digital Engineering 24/7 reported on its use for creating digital twin, and Automation World highlighted industrial use cases for interactive product configurators.[9][10]
Features
[edit]Modeling and Materials Vectary provides 3D modeling tools that run directly in a web browser. [11] Vectary supports importing of CAD (STEP files), converting NURBS geometries into MESH. It supports standard 3D file formats such as OBJ (file format), FBX, and glTF. Users can apply materials and textures to models, with support for UV mapping and real-time 3D rendering.
Collaboration The platform includes collaboration features for teams, including one link project sharing, version control, and in-project comments. Projects can be embedded in external websites or shared via links, enabling remote review and editing.
Integrations Vectary integrates with productivity and design tools such as Figma, Miro (software), Lucidchart, and Notion (productivity software), allowing 3D assets to be connected to collaborative workflows. [12] Its no-code approach has been cited in discussions of broader no-code software adoption.[13]
Augmented and Virtual Reality Vectary enables the placement of models in augmented reality environments directly from the browser. It also supports virtual reality viewing and has been listed among 3D design applications for the Apple Vision Pro.[14] Design News described a case of using Vectary to customize a guitar model in VR.[15]
Applications
[edit]Product visualization and marketing: Used in online retail and product visualization for interactive configurators. Engineering and digital twins: Applied in digital twin creation and product configurators for industrial workflows. Training and support: Highlighted as an accessible tool for 3D modeling and computer-aided design education.
Reception
[edit]CreativeBloq listed Vectary among the best free 3D design applications in 2023, highlighting its accessibility through a browser.[16] The 3Dnatives portal described it as intuitive for designers at different skill levels, noting its applications in AR.[3]
Trade publications have also covered its applications in engineering and industrial design. Automation World reported on its role in configuration workflows, while Digital Engineering 24/7 emphasized its use for creating interactive digital twins.[17][18]
