The United Council of Sheikhs and Notables of Basra and Iraq is a tribal committee that is affiliated with the Basra Provincial Council. On March 18, 2025, the council called on the Iraqi federal government to sever ties with the Syrian interim government. They also urged the government to monitor Syrians in Iraq and hold individuals accountable for inciting sectarian strife.
