Trans in the City is a UK based not-for-profit organisation that supports transgender and non-binary people in business. They provide workplace training for companies and host events to support trans people in business.[1]

History

[edit]

Trans in the City was founded by Bobbi Pickard in 2017, following her positive experience coming out as transgender in her workplace at BP.[2] In 2022 the organisation became a registered company.[3]

Trans in the City runs Student Connect, a support network for transgender, and non-binary students in the UK. Through Student Connect, they host events, share work experience opportunities, and CV building support.[4] They also run the Student Ambassador Scheme, pairing students with mentors who are able to support their professional development.[5][6][7]

To mark Transgender Awareness Week 2023, Trans in the City launched their free Trans Inclusion E-Learning course. Made in collaboration with Cool2BTrans, and Global Butterflies, the course is intended to support businesses and organisations to provide diversity, equity, and inclusion for their employees.[8][9][10]

In 2022 PinkNews announced a three-year media partnership with the Trans in the City, promising to give Trans in the City expanded news coverage.[11]

The Art of Trans Joy Exhibition was held in 2025 as a collaboration between Trans in the City, University of the Arts London, and the British LGBT Awards. Participants were encouraged to submit work around trans joy, and allyship, with the long listed works being showcased in a public exhibition. Three finalists had their work displayed at the British LGBT Awards, and a winner received £500. The artworks were auctioned off, with the funds being contributed to the Trans in the City Arts Bursary.[12][13][14]
