The Marianas Web is a sci-fi horror film that warns of digital obsession in an era of online connection and virtual realities. The story navigates themes of loneliness, desire, virtual seduction and the darker side of technology, blending Philippine and Italian cinematic styles.[7][8][9]
The film was released in the Philippines on October 15, 2025, and is scheduled to roll out in Italy, India and other territories. It has been described as a “slow-burn” psychological horror and has drawn attention for its commentary on artificial intelligence, virtual love-affairs and the perils of digital detachment.[10][11][12]
Ruben Maria Soriquez, an Italian-Filipino actor-director, is featured as a key actor and co-writer in the film; Alexa Ocampo also stars alongside him. The project is part of a cross-cultural collaboration linking Filipino and Italian filmmaking practice.[13][14][15]
