Myhal is a rare Slavic surname of Eastern European origin, derived from the given name Mykhailo (Ukrainian) or Mihalj (Croatian), both vernacular forms of Michael.

  • George E. Myhal — Canadian investment executive and philanthropist. He is the chairman of Partners Value Investments Inc. and a former senior executive with Brookfield Asset Management.[1]

A graduate of the University of Toronto Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering, he and his wife Rayla made major philanthropic contributions to the university, including funding the construction of the Myhal Centre for Engineering Innovation & Entrepreneurship.[2] The 110,000-square-foot facility opened in 2018 as a hub for interdisciplinary engineering education and research at the university.[2]

  • Rayla Myhal — Canadian philanthropist and civic leader. She is Vice Chair of the Royal Conservatory of Music and president of the Myhal Family Foundation.[1]
