Imad ud din Al Hafiz Sheikh Muhammad Ameen Bin Abdul Rehman Hashmi Arabic : عماد الدين الحافظ الشيخ محمد أمين بن عبد الرحمن الهاشمي (c. 1941 – August 2023) was an Arab Pakistani religious leader known for introducing the Idrisiyya Sufi order in Pakistan. He was the founder of the Silsila e Muhammadia Ameenia Idreesia, a spiritual organization.

Early Life and Education

Hashmi was born in Quetta, Balochistan, in 1941. At the age of five or six, he migrated with his family to Medina, Saudi Arabia, where he resided until 1985. He memorized the Quran by the age of eleven and pursued studies in Islamic sciences, including Hadith and jurisprudence, at Masjid al-Nabawi. During his time in Medina, he also trained as a tailor and worked professionally in the Moratani neighborhood in Medina.[1]

Hashmi served as the imam of Masjid An-Noor originally (Masjid Abdul Raheem Al Awezah) in Medina for approximately 30 years. In the mid-1980s, he relocated to Karachi, Pakistan, and later moved to Multan in 1995. In Pakistan, he established the Silsila e Muhammadia Ameenia Idreesia, a branch of the Idrisiyya Sufi order originally founded by Ahmad ibn Idris al-Fasi. The organization has established centers in various countries, including Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Qatar etc .[2] [3][4]

Teachings

Hashmi's teachings emphasized adherence to the Quran and Sunnah, the importance of monotheism, and the avoidance of innovations in religious practices. He advocated for spiritual practices such as remembrance (dhikr) and encouraged a connection with the Prophet Muhammad. [5]

Philanthropy

In 2015, Hashmi founded the Eastern Breeze Foundation, a non-profit organization aimed at providing education, healthcare, and social support in line with Islamic principles. The foundation operates under Pakistani law and focuses on serving communities regardless of religion, sect, caste, or gender. [6][7]

Death

Sheikh Ameen Bin Abdul Rehman Hashmi passed away in August 2023 at the age of 90. He was buried in Jamia Masjid al Hafiz sheikh Ameen bin Abdul Rehman, Shah Rukne Alam colony, Multan . His funeral was attended by followers from across Pakistan.[8]
