Shane Goode (born June 5, 1988), known by his ring name Shane Mercer, is an American professional wrestler. He is best known for his appearances in Game Changer Wrestling (GCW), IWA Mid-South, and Freelance Wrestling. Mercer is recognized for his impressive feats of strength and performances in deathmatch and independent wrestling promotions.
Early life
[edit]Mercer was born in Lebanon, Kentucky. He began weight training as a teenager and went on to set multiple state and national records in bench pressing.[1]
Professional wrestling career
[edit]Mercer made his wrestling debut in 2006 after training with Bull Pain. Throughout his career, he has competed in a variety of independent promotions, including Game Changer Wrestling, IWA Mid-South, and Pro Wrestling Zero1 in Japan. In GCW, he participated in both the Tournament of Survival and the Nick Gage Invitational.[2]

[edit]Mercer has formed several notable tag teams during his career. These include "Iron Beast" with KTB and "The Syndicate" with Calvin Tankman.[3]

[edit]Mercer appears as a playable character in The Wrestling Code, a professional wrestling video game developed by Virtual Basement.[8] He is also one of the featured athletes in the children’s book Good Night Ninja, which highlights independent wrestlers and their personas.[9]
On December 3, 2018, Sports Illustrated featured Mercer in an article after footage of him lifting and swinging an entire section of metal bleachers during a match at The Resistance went viral.[10]
Personal life
[edit]Outside the ring, Mercer is known for his quiet demeanor and focus on fitness.
