Shakuro is a software development company founded on September 29, 2006, registered in Lewes, Delaware, United States, with headquarters in the United Arab Emirates. It is known for developing the art-education platform Proko and the digital-art community CGHub.
History
[edit]Shakuro was founded on September 29, 2006. Initially, the company focused on web development and digital design services for startups and small businesses. Over the following years, it expanded its portfolio to include large-scale web applications, e-learning platforms, and community-driven online services.[1]
In the late 2000s and early 2010s, Shakuro became known for developing the digital-art community CGHub.[2][3]In the mid-2010s, the company collaborated on the design and development of Proko, an art-education platform created by artist Stan Prokopenko.[4][5] By the 2020s, Shakuro had grown into an international business serving clients worldwide.
Proko
[edit]Proko is an online art-education platform founded by artist Stan Prokopenko, offering instructional videos, courses, and community features for aspiring artists. Shakuro designed and developed the platform, transforming it from a WordPress-based site into a full-scale, interactive e-learning system. This collaboration is documented in a UX Planet case study and in a public client review on Clutch.
CGHub and CGPlus
[edit]Between 2009 and 2014, Shakuro served as the developer of CGHub, a popular online platform for computer graphics artists and designers, often compared to ArtStation. In April 2014, the platform was abruptly shut down, prompting widespread reaction from the digital art community. In an official statement, Shakuro said the reasons were “personal and will remain private.”
Following CGHub’s closure, Shakuro initiated the creation of a successor platform, informally referred to as CGHub 2.0 and later known as CGPlus. The company launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the new project, aiming to restore much of the functionality and community lost after CGHub’s shutdown.[6][7]
AI-driven development
[edit]In 2025, Shakuro introduced a practical approach to artificial intelligence in software development. Media reports described the company’s use of machine learning and large language models to assist with code generation, automated testing, code review, and documentation, enabling developers to focus on core challenges.[8][9] The launch also included AI-driven capabilities such as Agent-Connected Platforms (ACP), ML pipelines, and AI-enhanced front-end features.[10]
Awards and recognition
[edit]In 2023, Shakuro’s design for the Mirko Romanelli website was recognized as “Site of the Day” by CSS Winner and Orpetron.[11][12]
