Shakeel Ahmad Meer (born October 09, 1980) is a Pakistani-British businessman based in the UAE. He is the founder, chairman, and CEO and managing director multiple companies.[1][2][3][4]

Biography

Early life and education

Meer was born in Mirpur, Kashmir, Pakistan, to Maqsood Ahmad Meer and Sughra Bibi and was raised among four siblings. He holds a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, a master of science in manufacturing management from Glasgow Caledonian University.

Career

Professional career

Meer began his career as a production engineer at Pak Elektron Limited in 2006, where he was responsible for overseeing production processes and ensuring operational works. He remained in this role until 2007.[4]

In 2009, he joined Strathclyde University Glasgow as research associate working with local businesses and also serving as a knowledge transfer associate between the university and local businesses. He published research paper with David Mackay titled Strategy as Practice, which won the Best Paper Award by British Academy of Management.

In 2012, he joined Architectural Glazing Systems as an operations manager. He managed daily operations, set sales forecasts, coordinated activities across departments, and implemented management systems such as ERP and lean manufacturing. He also led strategic change and continuous improvement projects. He held this position until 2016.

From 2016 to 2017, Meer worked as an operations manager and director at Stillwater Group (A Plus Windows and Doors). He was responsible for business growth strategy and operations management. He streamlined business processes, improved client relationship management, and introduced employee development plans. He also established partnerships with universities and growth hubs for funding and training.

In 2016, he became the managing director of Inspired Business Transformation Ltd, where he focused on business strategy, growth, and transformation. In the following year, he joined SKS Home Investments as managing director, overseeing real estate investments and business operations. He also became a business mentor and partner at IBD Business Advice Group in 2017, advising entrepreneurs on business strategy and management since.

Meer founded Mega Success Pakistan in 2018, serving as chairman. The company provided services such as Startup support, software development, and business consultancy.

In 2019, he established Spotlight Marketing in London, where he has been providing marketing and business growth services since. The services include digital marketing, software development, and social media management.

Meer founded PZ International Projects in 2021 and has been serving as its CEO since. The company operates in Dubai.

In 2022, he became chairman of AlAux Group of Companies, overseeing a portfolio of over 100 businesses in sectors such as green technology, information technology, and e-commerce.

In 2023, he founded the Meer Group and has been serving as its chairman since, focusing on strategic planning, board administration, performance management, and mergers and acquisitions.[3][4][5][6]

Initiatives

Throughout his career, Meer has worked on different projects and initiatives across different industries. In 2023, he proposed an electric delivery bike for the UAE market with a 500-kilometer range, integrated GPS, and navigation systems. The project includes a production facility with a capacity of 3,000 bikes per month, an initial investment of $20 million, and an expected turnover of $50 million over the next 3 years. Meer also guides individuals through his social media accounts and conducts webinars covering topics related to businesses and investments.[1][4][7]

In 2023, at the International Film Festival and Awards (IFFA), Shakeel Ahmad Meer announced plans to establish a film industry in the UAE through his Meer Group. This initiative plans to produce films, dramas, and TV shows in the region.[2][3]

In 2024, Meer launched Vision Pakistan, an initiative for driving economic growth and social advancement in collaboration with the Pakistani government.[6][8] In addition, he introduced Trade Gate, a platform designed to link potential investors, educated youth, and job seekers to manage different projects under the supervision of Meer Group in the same year.[9][10]

In 2024, Meer introduced the Global Impact Vision 2030 to initiate a positive change in sustainable business practices, clean energy, education, health, and global cooperation.[11]
