SerpApi is a software company that provides application programming interfaces (APIs) for retrieving information from search engine results pages (SERPs).
History
[edit]SerpApi was founded in 2017 by Julien Khaleghy in Austin, Texas.[1][2] In 2025, SerpApi was reported to be part of the infrastructure behind ChatGPT's real-time search features. Other AI companies such as Perplexity AI, and large technical companies such as Apple, Nvidia, and Meta also purportedly used SerpApi to obtain Google Search results for integration into their products.[3][4][5][6]
Khaleghy was featured as a speaker at the 2025 Extract Summit, a conference focused on data extraction and AI technologies.[7]
Services
[edit]The company focuses on parsing structured data from search engines including Google, Bing, and Yahoo, and providing API endpoints to allow users to access the data programmatically. [8][9]
Common uses
[edit]SerpApi's APIs are integrated into frameworks such as LangChain, n8n, and Make.[10][11][12]They have also been used in academic workflows to collect results from Google Scholar and other sources for systematic reviews.[13] ExplodingTopics listed SerpApi as an alternative to Pytrends for accessing Google Trends data. [14] SerpApi has also been cited as infrastructure for real-time search features in AI products.[3][4]
