Sandeep Ahuja is an American architect, building‑science consultant, author, and technology entrepreneur. She is the co‑founder and chief executive officer of cove and leads Cove Architecture, a full‑service practice that uses a proprietary artificial‑intelligence framework to streamline building design and delivery.[1][2] Ahuja was included on the 2020 Forbes 30 Under 30 list in the energy category,[3] and co‑authored Build Like It’s the End of the World: A Practical Guide to Decarbonize Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (Wiley, 2024).[4]
Early life and education
[edit]Ahuja grew up in a diplomatic family and spent her childhood in Saudi Arabia, Russia, and Tanzania.[5] She later studied high‑performance buildings at the Georgia Institute of Technology.[5]
Career
[edit]Pattern R+D
[edit]After working in architectural practice, Ahuja co‑founded Pattern R+D, a building‑science consultancy focused on integrating performance analysis earlier in design workflows.[5]
cove (software and consulting)
[edit]In 2017, Ahuja co‑founded cove, developing cloud tools for energy use, daylight, and cost optimization in building design.[5] Coverage of the company’s growth and financing has appeared in technology and business media.[6]
Cove Architecture and AI framework
[edit]In 2025, Ahuja launched Cove Architecture, presenting it as an AI‑powered, full‑service architecture practice that uses in‑house software called Vitras.ai, which analyzes zoning and code constraints, and generates coordinated 3‑D BIM models—to compress timelines and align cost and carbon targets.[1][2] The practice and Ahuja’s approach to AI in architecture have been covered in design media,[7] including discussion of her earlier address to the UN Environment Assembly and her career path.[5]
