History
[edit]Groundbreaking and Opening
[edit]In November 1953, the Groundbreaking was held for the Greek Orthodox Church in downtown Rochester, Minnesota located on 703 West center Street, The construction started on November 30th 1953, on June 8th, 1954, the Greek Orthodox Church opened its doors and the first Sunday service was held on Sunday, June 13th 1954.
Expanding and remodeling
[edit]In August 1973, The remodeling of the Greek Orthodox Church building is completed, the old entrance was demolished, and the new entrance is built. In August 1989, The second remodeling of the church is completed, they added a Dome with a cross, they added an elevator, and the restrooms were removed from the Narthex. On Sunday, September 14th 2003, the groundbreaking was held for the new church, construction started on the new church on Sunday, September 21st, 2003, and it was completed on Saturday, October 30th, 2004, the first Sunday service was held in the new church on Sunday, October 31st, 2004. On Sunday, June 14th 2015, the groundbreaking was held for the new fellowship hall, construction started by taking apart the old church on Saturday, July 18th, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. The new fellowship Hall was started being built in September 2015, and it was completed in March 2016.
