Sagittarius C (commonly abbreviated Sgr C) is a massive star-forming region located in the Central Molecular Zone (CMZ) of the Milky Way galaxy, approximately 200 light-years from the galactic center supermassive black hole Sagittarius A* (Sgr A*).[2] One of the most prominent star-forming complexes in the galactic core, characterized by intense magnetic fields, dense molecular gas, and suppressed star formation relative to its mass reservoir.[3][1][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][2]

Charecterstics

[edit]

Sagittarius C is embedded within a massive molecular cloud complex spanning over 1,000 light-years in radio continuum maps. The compact H II region at its core has a radius of approximately 6 light-years, forming a fractured arc of ionized plasma.
