Sabita Binta Azad Shifa is a Bangladeshi social worker and public speaker. She is the founder of Village Empowerment, a non-profit organisation focused on youth and women’s development.[1]
She has been involved with Toastmasters International, where she served as president of the Sparkling Advanced Toastmasters Club in Bangladesh.[2]
Early life and education
[edit]Shifa was born in Dhaka and grew up in Gazipur. She studied at Joydebpur Government Girls’ High School and Gazipur Government Mohila College. She later earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in Social Work from Jagannath University.[3] She also pursued research at North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) in Meghalaya, India.[4]
Career
[edit]Shifa worked as a lecturer at the University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS).[5]
In 2025, she founded Village Empowerment, which works on women’s empowerment, youth leadership, and community development projects in Bangladesh.[6]
Shifa worked with World Vision International Bangladesh, serving in the Rohingya Crisis Response project. She served as a Lead Program Officer (Grant Acquisition Management) and was posted in Cox's Bazar (November 2021–November 2022).[7][8]
She has represented Bangladesh at international conferences and youth forums in Russia, Nepal, and India.[9]

- Recipient, Smedley Award and Advanced Leadership Bronze Award, Toastmasters International.[11]
