SENSHI (also branded SENSHI Gala) is a European kickboxing promotion launched in 2019 and headquartered in Varna, Bulgaria. It stages professional bouts primarily under the KWU International Professional League rules (KWU Full Contact, KWU SENSHI and KWU Open).[3][4]

History

[edit]

SENSHI held its first event in Varna in early 2019; the debut featured ten bouts including two WAKO Pro title fights and the first match under “KWU SENSHI” rules.[5] By February 2024 the promotion had staged **20** events in five years and hosted fighters from **48 countries**.[6] While KWU rulesets are standard, early shows also experimented with K-1 and Muay Thai rules on select bouts.[7]

Rulesets

[edit]

SENSHI uses three KWU Professional League rulesets:[8][9]

  • KWU Full Contact – full-contact kickboxing (punches, kicks, spinning backfist, single knee to head from two-hand clinch; short clinch; sweeps and leg-grab + strike; no elbows/throws/ground).
  • KWU SENSHI – as above, but allows elbow strikes and throws.
  • KWU Open – hybrid rules permitting throws and limited ground fighting (up to ~30 seconds per takedown), submissions and chokes; contested with MMA gloves.

(A detailed explainer is also published by Kyokushin Karate News.)[10]

Events and locations

[edit]

SENSHI events are typically held in Varna at the Palace of Culture and Sports (Congress Hall) or the beach arena at Saints Constantine and Helena resort.[11] The promotion also hosts training camps and an amateur program under the KWU SENSHI banner.[12]

Broadcast and media

[edit]

International streaming has included TrillerTV/FITE and free streams on the official SENSHI YouTube channel.[13][14] Media partners include Boec, Bulgaria ON AIR, Triller, KWUnion and others.[15]

Officials and trainers

[edit]

SENSHI frequently features elite officials and seminar leaders such as Ernesto Hoost, Semmy Schilt, Peter Aerts, Francisco Filho, Glaube Feitosa, Sam Greco, Nicholas Pettas, Ewerton Teixeira and Andy Souwer.[16][17]

Championships and tournaments

[edit]

In 2025, SENSHI introduced its first **World Heavyweight Grand Prix**, an eight-man, one-night tournament held on 13 September 2025 in Varna, Bulgaria.[18] The tournament was won by Turkey’s Samed (Samet) Agdeve, who defeated England’s Rhys Brudenell in the final after two earlier KO wins the same night.[19][20]
