Lauryn Henry, known professionally as RYL0, is an American singer, songwriter, and producer. Noted for blending traditional and experimental pop aesthetics[1] and utilizing highly stylized visual imagery,[2] RYL0 has garnered recognition within the underground pop and online hyperpop scenes.[3][4]

Career

[edit]

Born in New Jersey,[2] RYL0's earliest musical influences ranged from Paramore and Flyleaf to EDM artists like Krewella, who inspired her to start singing and join her schools' musical theater programs.[5][6] In 2019, she began making original music while studying screenwriting at USC School Of Cinematic Arts in Los Angeles, influenced by artists such as Kelsey Lu, Grimes, FKA twigs and Purity Ring.[7] Her earliest releases were made in GarageBand, with vocals recorded directly into a laptop microphone.[3][7]

During the COVID-19 pandemic, RYL0 began collaborating with other artists online. In an interview with Paper Magazine, she said, "At a certain point though during the pandemic, it was becoming harder to operate by myself on my little island because I was struggling to find new ways to grow and challenge myself. I was getting bored of operating within my limitations, so that’s when I got online and started building a community for myself and hitting up literally anyone. I was so bold about reaching out and DMing as many people as possible, and that process was extremely rewarding and changed my life."[7]

In 2021, RYL0 released her I'm the Best!! mixtape. In 2022, she teamed up with DJ Re:Code and Fraxiom for the double single "SuperPop", which was followed up shortly thereafter by her I'm the Worst!! mixtape.

During this period, RYL0 began participating in the live underground pop and electronic music scene in Los Angeles, performing at the A2B2 Night Of Fire event at Catch One on December 3, 2021, which featured a lineup of Kero Kero Bonito, Arca, and many more. She also started playing at LA hyperpop parties such as Subculture and Heav3n, as well as sksksks in New York City.[6] On December 2, 2022, she played at the Boiler Room x Subculture event at Catch One in Los Angeles, which had a lineup featuring Frost Children, Lil Mariko, Ericdoa, Alex Chapman, Food House, umru, and more.[8]

On April 20, 2023, RYL0 released her next mixtape, Fragments. Featuring producers such as David Burris, Matias Mora, and Taydex, Fragments explored new genres such as alt-rock and drill, while pushing RYL0's sound into a more "brooding, fiery style".[9]

On October 20, 2023, RYL0 released the Last Resort mixtape, which featured pop-forward songs such as "Loud Sex" and "People Who Don't Love Me".[2] The following year, she released Last Resort: Beach Club, a deluxe version that featured seven additional tracks, as well as collaborations with That Kid, Mel 4Ever, and Purity RIng's Corin Roddick (who produced the song "OO! AH!").

In August 2024, RYL0 opened for underscores at El Rey in Los Angeles.[10] Later in the month, she appeared on That Kid's mixtape TK ULTRA, featuring on the track "Dirty Shirley".

On June 27, 2025, RYL0 released the single "Party Monster", produced by Taydex and AOBeats. The track was released with BMG, marking RYL0’s label debut release. From July 13 to 23, 2025, RYL0 went on tour as support for Tears & Gearz (the duo of Zee Machine and Bentley Robles). On August 22, 2025, RYL0 released her second single with BMG, "Ambrosia", also produced by Taydex and AObeats and featuring REYSHA RAMIi and ChiChi.
