Reviews

[edit]

A research analysis published in a Brussels based French language magazine by a researcher from Jakarta Miss. Citra Dewi:

She explained about Muhammad Ali Pasha’s poem on the Flag and Coat of Arms of Indonesia from his collection Romantic Whispers of the Archipelago. She interprets the work as an exploration of national symbols within the framework of Benedict Anderson’s concept of the "imagined community," highlighting its role in cultural preservation and Indonesian identity.[2]

Dr. Maria Isabel Maldonado from Punjab University Lahore wrote:

"Pasha’s use of adjectives denotes his expert hand. His descriptors are precise and evocative, such as “gentle shimmer’ and “clear and calm” for Montano Lake, which conjures an image of enchantment and magic."[3]

Ms. Clara K. Johnson, writing in a Luxembourg and Belgium based journal, analyzed that:

Muhammad Ali Pasha’s poem You Ruled the Earth, But Not the Air from his collection Romantic Whispers of the Archipelago. She described the work as a reflection on the limits of human power, the endurance of truth, and the sanctity of liberty. According to Johnson, the poem opens with rhetorical questions—such as who extinguished the lamps that once lit the path—that convey a sense of lost direction, hope, and innocence.[4]
