Draft:Román Zaragoza

  • Comment: Of the six sources, 2 are imdb, 1 is tv insider, and another is the actors' homepage. This leaves 2 other sources. There needs to be far more to show that this person is notable. GalStar (talk) (contribs) 22:17, 13 July 2025 (UTC)

Román Zaragoza is a American actor, director, and producer known for playing Sasappis on the show Ghosts.[1] He worked as a producer on the short film This is Their Land.[2] He will voice Sokka in The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender. [3]

Early life

[edit]

Román Zaragoza was born in New York City to Gregory Zaragoza, an actor, and business professor, Shirley Zaragoza.[4] He is the youngest of three children, having two elder sisters. [5] He is of mixed heritage—his father is Akimel O'otham and Mexican, while his mother is of Japanese and Taiwanese descent. [6]

Raised in Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen from age nine, he grew up attending broadway shows. He has said he fell in love with theater when his father acted in the play Annie Get Your Gun.[7] At age 11, he and his family moved to Los Angeles. There he began formal training in acting, dance, singing, and improv.

He went to California State University, Northridge for Film Production. While attending the university, he became involved with the American Indian Student Association and took classes related to the culture.[8]

Career

[edit]

At age 15, he became involved with Native Voices at the Autry, a recognized Equity Native American theatre company, where he was mentored by Randy Reinholz. Reinholz's Off the Rails went on to be showcased at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.[9] Zaragoza acted in the play and had to take a break from university for three years.

In 2014 he began a recurring role on the Disney channel series, Austin & Ally. He portrayed Miles, a character known for rarely speaking.

Since 2021, Zaragoza has played a Lenape ghost Sasappis on the show Ghosts. [10][11] His real life father played his onscreen father on the show.[7]

He is going to voice the character Sokka in The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender in 2026. This is the first film in a new animated trilogy.[12]
